Rafa de la Torre is a melodic metal vocalist from Spain whose passion for singing was forged in the solitude of daily commutes and shaped by the influence of rock and metal giants. From his early love of Europe’s “The Final Countdown” to his enduring admiration for Metallica, Bruce Dickinson, and Rob Halford, Rafa’s path has always followed the pulse of heavy music. Though he once struggled to pick up the guitar, he found his true instrument in his own voice — training himself during long drives and refining his technique through disciplined self-teaching. A life-changing moment came in 2008 after seeing Metallica live for the first time, where he walked away disphonic and determined to sing not just louder, but better.
It wasn’t until 2019 that Rafa began to share his voice with others. A karaoke contest at work, some heartfelt encouragement from his boss, and a leap of faith at a local festival sparked the beginning of a new chapter. Since then, he has been part of two bands — first Metalized, now Foundry — and has worked closely with Spanish metal icon Elisa C. Martin, whose mentorship helped elevate both his confidence and technical ability. From humble beginnings singing alone in his car to receiving local acclaim and building a YouTube following, Rafa’s journey is a testament to quiet persistence and a deep love for the music that shaped him.
